David started out in life as a musician, and during the 70s had a very successful career as a singer/song-writer in Carmen - his progressive flamenco rock band. After a very serious illness David moved sideways into a second successful career, working in the field of human behaviour both as a photographer and writer. During this period he produced five books, one of which, Rituals of Love, is used as a standard text on university and medical school psychology courses. His photographs from this period have been exhibited in group and one man shows in London, Paris, Tokyo, LA, St Petersburg and Amsterdam.

Ten years ago David changed track again. He moved to East Dulwich, started a family, and set up a photographic business. Family Portraits is now one of the longest established portrait businesses in South London. During the past twenty years David has continued to photograph trees - an abiding passion. The images in this exhibition are a few of the many thousands of images taken around East Dulwich in the last ten years.

"My father is a painter. He used to say he chose to be an artist because it was the only profession he could think of that would stop people from calling him a bum. He was joking. Trees are my metaphor for humanity. Photographing them expresses and validates my view of life in this world."
